The sun is shining and summer is finally here (although we can’t say how long for). There’s podcasts to be recorded, video games to be playing, and ice-cream to be eating! Join us for the next monthly update in the life of the 1001-Up.com team.

Featured - 1 Year, 5 Months-Up

We’ll start off as we normally do by saying a massive thank you to everyone out there that has ever heard of, looked at or followed our little site. We appreciate your support more than you know: we’ve now managed to hit views from 157 countries across the world and 835 subscribers, and we love every single one of you. Take a look at our dedicated Big-Up page and make sure we’ve mentioned you on there; if we haven’t let us know so we can put that right as soon as possible.

Back in May we published our first podcast, on the subject of what it means to be an indie game developer nowadays. We enjoyed the experience so much that we thought we’d have another crack at it – and we even managed to rope in the lovely Chris from Game Over You Suck. Following on from our series on gaming guilty pleasures we decided to focus on the same topic this time around, with Chris introducing us to Naughty Kitties (which sounds even better when said in his excellent accent).

There are some exciting changes coming up for 1001-Up.com and, while we can’t announce anything just yet, we’re really looking forward to seeing where this will take us. While we get everything in order, there are two major differences you’ll notice: the first is that Kim will have to take a step back from writing while she focuses on other areas of the site but she’ll still be around and has several reviews coming up. The second is that we won’t be publishing articles on a Saturday or Sunday for the near future (ok, so this one is an exception) – we hope you won’t miss us too much!

With all these weekends free now, we won’t know what to do with ourselves… hardly! Our next podcast is lined up for the coming week and we’ll be focusing on easter eggs in line with our series on the same subject. Arrangements are well underway for the Hearthstone tournament announced by Phil last month so expect to see some more details on that soon. And we’re planning on using our Twitch channel a lot more going forward, with Kim recently streaming her playthrough of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. If you’d like to join us at any of our events please don’t hesitate to get in touch or leave us a comment below – everyone is welcome.

We’ve attended the Eurogamer expo (now EGX London) for the past couple of years and 2014 will be no exception with the team having received their passes already. If you’re going to be at Earl’s Court between 25 and 28 September 2014 for the event, let us know and we can meet up for a beer or two! Be sure to check out the stand for the amazing SpecialEffect while you’re there, and while not stop by and say hi to some of the team who will be volunteering for the charity at the expo on the Saturday.

Stay with us because there is plenty more to look forward to this summer including more podcasts, the start of an online RPG later this month and hopefully a day at the arcades on the Essex coast. And if you’d like to get involved with the 1001-Up.com team, check out our dedicated page for details because we’d love to have you there with us.

We’re walking on sunshine – from Kim, Phil, Ben, Kevin, Jay and Tim from 1001-Up.com
