Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night may now be behind us, but there’s still lots to look forward to this year! Thanksgiving and Christmas are almost upon us and there’s nothing like staying indoors playing video games when it’s dark outside.

We’ll start off as we normally do by saying a big thank you to everyone out there who has ever heard of, looked at or followed our little site. We appreciate your support so much: we’ve now managed to hit views from 124 countries across the world and 335 followers – that’s over a hundred more than last month! Take a look at our dedicated Big-Up page and make sure we’ve mentioned you on there; if we haven’t please let us know so we can put that right as quickly as possible.
We’d especially like to thank two fellow bloggers: John Heatz and Cassie Gotto from Poppycock Reviews. They were both kind enough to put us forward for the Versatile Blogger Award at the end of October and it’s an absolute honour to receive nominations from such talented people. We hope to have done them proud with our facts which form part of the rules of the award, and not to have freaked them out too much with our weirdness!

It’s an honour to be nominated!
This month has been a bit of a busy but enjoyable one for the 1001-Up.com team. We ramped up on the horror reviews and articles for our Halloween week and even threw a few gameplay videos into the mix, something we’ve never tried before. Several readers noticed how Kim was hiding behind a cushion and she has since been challenged by John, Kevin Kutlesa from The Mental Attic and V from The Verbal Spew Review to take to the controls. So just to please them, we posted a Slender: The Arrival video yesterday – take a look and see how many times we screamed.
Phil has been busy lining up contributions and it’s a pleasure to welcome our fourth Contributor, Elly Shepherd with her review of Dragon Age: Origins. She’s a very talented fiction and gaming writer so if you haven’t already checked out her awesome blog, Is This Gaming?, make sure you head over there very soon! If you’re someone will a passion for gaming and writing who would like to get involved, head over to the Contributors page for information.

Elly Shepherd is awesome!
On Saturday we had the absolute pleasure of meeting The Dad, Gentleman Geek in person for the first time. A couple of drinks at Meltdown London saw us chatting away as if we’d all known each other forever, before taking over the Xbox 360 for several rounds of Street Fighter X Tekken. We also tried our hand at Diablo III but think it’s safe to say that the 1001-Up / TDGG team need a bit more practice before we attempt any videos! We’re really looking forward to meeting up with him again next month – he’s a top bloke.
Please stick with us because there’s plenty more coming! The main articles in our series on the brony fandom is due to begin on 09 November 2013 (thank you to everyone who has helped us with these), and there may even be a few more horror gameplay videos on the way. Finally, we think it would only be fair to share the gem below from Phil’s 30th birthday one more time:
Now we’re going to hang our heads in shame – from Craig, Kim and Phil at 1001-Up.com ☆
